Microbiology is a branch of medical science concerned with the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases, houses diseases and pathologies which require either or both medical and surgical attention. Often, over time, the key aspects of undergraduate learning of Microbiology are partially lost along with memory of various grades of diseases and their Latin names.
Microbiologist studies the characteristics of pathogens, their modes of transmission, mechanisms of infection and growth.
Other tasks may include the identification of potential health risks to the community or monitoring the evolution of potentially virulent or resistant strains of microbes, educating the community and assisting in the design of health practices. They may also assist in preventing or controlling e and outbreaks of disease epidemics
Medical microbiologists provide services to aid the diagnosis and management of infectious diseases (by monitoring their patterns) and help ensure the safety of those at risk of acquiring infectious diseases, both in hospitals and the community. Although this role is laboratory-based, the microbiologist’s role is increasingly clinical.
This course focuses on Microbiology of few diseases like Viral Hepatitis, Tuberculosis, Malaria, Typhoid, Notifiable diseases, Viral encephalitis, Sars Covid and vaccines
The course is designed to be completed in 3 or 4 months given a weekly time commitment of 4-6 hours. During each week, a set of brief sessions help a ‘student’ review, update and learn about key Microbiological aspects of the diseases mentioned above and weekly assessments and the final assessment after which the successful candidates shall be awarded a certificate.

There is a final exam that will be conducted online at the end of the course
